Atlee opens up about the success of Jawan and responds to criticism – Times of India
The director, known for his blockbuster Tamil films, shared his perspective on the remarkable journey from “Raja Rani” to “Jawan.” Despite the increasing scale of his projects, Atlee emphasised that he doesn’t follow a fixed formula but instead listens to his heart and relies on his supportive friends and family.He expressed gratitude for his wife, who plays a significant role in his progress.
Atlee’s transition to Bollywood with “Jawan” has been a game-changer, as the film races towards the remarkable milestone of Rs 1000 crore at the worldwide box office. He acknowledged the responsibility that comes with such success but stated that he focuses on projects that make him happy and align with his creative instincts.
Addressing criticism from both South and North Indian fans, Atlee stated that it’s impossible to please everyone. He highlighted that 95% of the audience appreciates his work, and the film’s success in South India and the newfound fans in the North validate the film’s appeal. He emphasised the need for responsibility in catering to a diverse audience.
As for his future plans, Atlee shared that he aims to make Indian films that appeal to a wider audience. He is committed to taking Indian cinema to global standards and making the country proud of its filmmaking. While there have been talks about Jawan 2, Atlee is currently focused on understanding his audience’s preferences before deciding on his next project.
