At Miami Art Basel, Nike Honors Virgil Abloh’s Endless Legacy

This year at Miami art week, Nike celebrated the late luminary Virgil Abloh. In collaboration with VA Securities, Nike welcomed guests to the Rubell Museum to unveil “Virgil Abloh: The Codes c/o Architecture,” a carefully curated exhibition dedicated to Abloh’s creative vision. The Codes focuses on the innovative relationship Nike has had with Abloh in the past and present and where it will continue to grow in the future. Just one year following the designer’s tragic passing that was felt around the world, his legacy lives on.

With energy high and music even higher, friends, families, collaborators, and those lucky enough to get in flocked to ZZ’s Miami to celebrate Abloh in style. In the heart of the design district and in the humid heat, guests seemed more like family as you looked around. Many of the attendees reflected on the lives Abloh impacted and called friends. On a short list of comers in the bustling space were Shannon Abloh, Travis Scott, Aleali May, Heron Preston, Futura, Rhuigi Villasenor, Ricardo Tisci, and John Hoke. At a party that was packed with visionaries much like Abloh himself, his work continues to be a bridge for connectivity and creation.

“Virgil Abloh: The Codes c/o Architecture” will be open from December 1 through 4, 2022 at Miami’s Rubell Museum.
