At Bar Basso, Vogue Italia and Instagram Celebrated Milan’s Creative Energy During Salone del Mobile

“See you at 6:00 p.m. at Bar Basso.” This is how Francesca Ragazzi, Head of Editorial Content at Vogue Italia, and Clara Cornet, Strategist Partner, Instagram, gave an IRL appointment to the fashion community.

Designers, stylists, models and influencers as well as digital content creators and brand representatives, gathered at Bar Basso for a fresh drink after a long and hot day of work (it’s Salone del Mobile week in Milan). In attendance were Ib Kamara (fashion designer, former collaborator of Virgil Abloh and now Art & Image Director of Off-White), Filippo Grazioli (new creative director of Missoni), Andrea Adamo (Calabrian designer and founder of ANDREADĀMO, whose creations have been worn by Madonna, Rihanna, and Elodie), Luca Lin and Galib Gassanoff (respectively of Chinese and Azerbaijani heritage, who founded the Italian brand ACT N°1), Edward Buchanan (design director of Bottega Veneta from 1996 to 2001, currently designer of Sansovino 6 and member of WAMI), Joy Meribe (Nigerian designer who debuted in Milan with her “Afropolitan chic” style), Massimo Giorgetti (Milanese designer who founded MSGM 13 years ago), Giorgia Tordini and Gilda Ambrosio (co-founders of The Attico), Karim Daoudi (shoe designer of the eponymous Made in Italy brand), Jezabelle Cormio (of Cormio, a fun knitwear brand with a Tyrolean aesthetic), Lisa Von Tang (designer of Heart & Soul, an ethical and sustainable brand that uses recycled synthetic fibers), Michelle Francine Ngonmo of WAMI (We Are Made in Italy, a collective that fights for concrete and not just theoretical inclusivity), content creators behind Ultracreature and La Ghey, and actress Greta Ferro, to name a few.

It wasn’t about a digital connection, but about a real meeting between those who live, wear, promote and, above all, create fashion today. And one could not have chosen a better place to stimulate this synergy than Bar Basso, where the Milanese aperitivo ritual was born with the “Negroni Sbagliato” (created by Mirko Stocchetto by adding sparkling wine to the original recipe). It is in fact a place rich in history, where many well-known personalities come when visiting Milan. Bar Basso has succeeded in creating a welcoming community for any Milanese, by birth or by adoption.

The fashion industry was deeply shaken by the pandemic crisis so it was definitely time for everyone to get together again in a convivial atmosphere. Milan confirms itself as the gravitational center of this creative “wave” where the success of new Italian style is explained by the interweaving of different cultures, from all over Italy and the world, which find the right space to meet and exchange experiences and knowledge, thus becoming the source of powerful creative energy.

Times have changed and so has Italian fashion. The time had come to see each other in real life again.
