Aston Villa’s head of women’s football has been named in an indictment concerning a work visa fraud in the United States, Sportsmail can reveal.
Lee Billiard, who strongly denies any wrongdoing and was not charged with any offence, is mentioned in court documents relating to ongoing legal proceedings against individuals who have pleaded guilty to visa fraud.
The alleged offences took place while Billiard worked as both general manager and president of football operations for the Boston Breakers, a now defunct American women’s team.

Sportsmail has uncovered how the Breakers struck an illegal agreement with Global Premier Soccer (GPS), a youth football organisation based in Waltham, Massachusetts, where Billiard previously worked.
In March 2021, Justin Capell, the former GPS chief operating officer, pleaded guilty in connection with ‘wide-ranging visa fraud conspiracy’.
Visa fraud cases are typically prosecuted in the US when visa applicants or people applying on their behalf have falsified credentials for someone who wants to work in America or lied about jobs that don’t exist. It is a criminal offence, and punishments for convictions can range from 10 months to five years in prison.
