If completed, the move could open up a path for Douglas Luiz to join Arsenal.
Both Villa and Wolves have also shown a strong interest in Craig Dawson, the West Ham centre-back.
Villa also asked about Chelsea’s Conor Gallagher on Wednesday but the 22-year-old has eight Premier League clubs waiting to see whether his club will allow him out today.
Dendoncker has made five appearances for Wolves this season but has not started any of their last three top-flight games.

Gallagher meanwhile started in Chelsea’s recent Premier League games against Leeds and Leicester but was sent off against the Foxes.
The Belgium and England internationals though could be a replacement for Luiz, with Arsenal considering a dramatic deadline day move.
Earlier on Thursday it emerged Liverpool had been sounded out over a move for the Brazilian as Jurgen Klopp sought cover for his injury-plagued squad.
But the Reds have now switched their attention to Juventus outcast Arthur Melo and look set to complete a loan deal for the Brazilian by the 11pm deadline.
Luiz’s current deal at Villa Park is set to expire next summer but the 24-year-old could be set for an early exit.
