Assault charge against Raiders WR dropped

An assault charge against Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Davante Adams has been dropped, according to a report from the Kansas City Star.

A spokesperson for the Kansas City municipal court said the misdemeanor charge was actually dropped on June 5 and that the case had been closed.

Adams was facing the charge for shoving a cameraperson following a game against the Chiefs during the 2022 season.

Ryan Zebley was working as a freelance sideline photographer for ESPN’s “Monday Night Football” when video caught Adams giving Zebley an aggressive shove on his way to the locker room. Zebley reportedly suffered from headaches, whiplash and a mild concussion as a result of Adams’ shove. Adams apologized and said it was a moment of frustration and that Zebley had run in front of him at the last minute.

Adams, the Chiefs and Raiders are still facing a civil suit from Zebley that has yet to be heard.

The Chiefs won that Monday night game by a 30-29 margin after overcoming an early 10-point deficit. Adams caught three passes for 124 yards and two touchdowns in the game.

During his first season with the Raiders he caught 100 passes for 1,516 yards and a league-leading 14 touchdowns.
