Sky Sports have announced their commentary teams for this summer’s Ashes series, which will includes former England captains Eoin Morgan, Kevin Pietersen and Australia legends Mark Taylor and Ricky Ponting.

The broadcaster unveiled their 21-strong team on Tuesday, with some big hitters as well as some familiar faces completing the line-ups.

For the men’s coverage, Mel Jones, Kumar Sangakkara and Dinesh Karthik will join Sky’s regulars with the likes of Ian Ward, Mike Atherton, Mark Butcher and Sportsmail’s very own Nasser Hussain all providing analysis for the series.

Sir Andrew Strauss will provide commentary for the Lord’s Test, which will have a fundraising day for the Ruth Strauss Foundation.

England’s 50-over World Cup-winning captain Morgan signed a deal with Sky when he retired from international cricket last July, and joined the broadcasters’ line-up for the Hundred days later, although he continued to participate in that competition and others around the globe.

Now, the 36-year-old has been confirmed as one of the big names recruited to the 12-man team for the June and July series.

England legend Pietersen will be reunited with old foe Ponting, with the duo locking horns over the years in some of the most memorable Ashes series – but this time they’ll be on the same side.

Ponting, who was Australia’s Test captain during their ‘golden era’ between 2004 and 2011, won five Ashes series.

Taylor will also join his compatriot and fellow former captain in Sky’s commentary box having worked in a similar role for Channel Nine’s cricket coverage on Australian TV.

Meanwhile, for the Women’s Ashes, former England players Lydia Greenway, Isa Guha and Charlotte Edwards join Nick Knight, Jones and Mark Butcher for all the coverage, which begins on June 22.

The commentators will rotate through the series, with the final Test taking place at The Oval on July 27-31.
