Around the NHL: Maple Leafs swap Aston-Reese for Lafferty for Game 2

Looking to bounce back after dropping Game 1 on home ice, the Toronto Maple Leafs will make a change in personnel.

Zach Aston-Reese will make way for Sam Lafferty on the fourth line ahead of Game 2 against the Florida Panthers.

“(Lafferty’s) got a lot of pace to his game and we think that can help,” said Leafs coach Sheldon Keefe. “We’re just looking at keeping him involved.”

Lafferty last played in Toronto’s 4-2 loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning in Game 5 of their first-round series.

The 28-year-old has one assist in five games for the Maple Leafs in the 2023 Stanley Cup playoffs.
