The entry-level iPad has received the much-awaited refresh, having a design much in-line with the rest of iPads, a new chip, improved cameras, and a lot more. Despite the arrival of the new iPad, the older one with big bezels, a much-older chip, and dated cameras is here to stay, at least for now. And there is a substantial price difference between the two.
So, the question arises which one should you get? The newer 10th generation iPad or the older one, which costs around Rs 14,000 cheaper than the new one. Here is a quick rundown of what’s new with the iPad (10th generation) and what you get for the extra money it asks for.

There is a striking difference between the two when it comes to the design – the new iPad (10th generation) has an “all-screen” design. The bezels have been minimalized, and the Touch ID is now being moved to the power button, similar to how the other iPads look.
Meanwhile, the older iPad (9th generation) has a pre-dated look with big bezels, especially the bottom one, as it houses the round Touch ID button. There are even more color options with the new iPad – Silver, Blue, Pink and Yellow – while the older one comes in two options – Silver and Space Gray. Also, the iPad (10th generation) is slightly lighter than the old one.
Both the iPads have a two-speaker setup, though, on the new iPad, the speaker is now in the landscape position. Also, the iPad (10th generation) replaces the Lighting port with USB-C, buts it adds some hassle for the users.
As for the display, the new entry-level iPad features a 10.9-inch Liquid Retina True Tone Display, fitting in the same footprint as the older iPad, which has a 10.2-inch Retina True Tone Display. The iPad (10th generation) has a slightly higher resolution of 2360×1640 pixels compared to the 2160×1620 pixel resolution of the iPad (9th generation). Both offer a maximum brightness of 500 nits.
