Apple introduces watchOS 10 with redesigned apps, mental health related features and more – Times of India

At the annual developer conference WWDC, Apple showcase new features coming to Apple Watch with watchOS 10.
With watchOS 10, users can see important information on certain watch faces by just rotating the digital crown button. Apple will also bring widgets for podcasts, stopwatch and more. The world clock app, the activity app have been redesigned to bring a new look to the two apps. Developers will have the option to give a new design to their apps.
Apple Watch apps, including Weather, Stocks, Home, Maps, Messages, World Clock, and others, now utilise more of the Apple Watch display for more glanceable information. The Activity app on Apple Watch and the Fitness app on iPhone make tracking daily movement even easier with more details, improvements to sharing, a redesigned trophy case, and Apple Fitness+ trainer tips.
New watch faces, mental health and more
Apple has also introduced two new Watch Faces — Palette and Snoopy and Woodstock. The Palette face depicts time in a wide variety of colours using three distinct overlapping layers, and as time changes, the colours on the display also shift. The characters on the other watch face– Snoopy and Woodstock — interact and play with the watch hands, react to the weather conditions in the area, or even get active when the user does a workout.
watchOS 10 will allow users to connect Bluetooth-enabled cycles with their Apple Watch. New features are also being added to the cycling activity in the workout and fitness tracking mode. Cycling workouts will show up as a Live activity on the iPhone as well.
Hiking workout also gets new features, including waypoints and compass. watchOS 10 also introduced new APIs for developers to come up with new features for their workout-related apps.
Apple is also introducing mental health-related features with watchOS 10. With the Mindfulness app in watchOS 10, users can log their momentary emotions and daily moods. Users can turn the Digital Crown to scroll through engaging, multidimensional shapes to choose how they are feeling, select what is having the biggest impact on them, and describe their feelings.
watchOS 10 will also brings features related to vision health. Apple Watch will now be able to measure how much time is spent outdoors. The feature is aimed at kids to combat rising cases of myopia. There’s also a Screen distance feature which will tell users if they are holding their devices too close to their eyes.
Users can now initiate playback of a FaceTime video message and view it directly on Apple Watch. Additionally, Group FaceTime audio is now supported on Apple Watch.
