apple: Apple receives a new sunroof patent approval for the rumoured ‘Apple Car’ – Times of India
Apple has been rumoured to be working on its own electric car that’s expected to rival the likes of Tesla. Several leaks and rumours about the Apple Car have already surfaced giving us an early idea about it.
Now, the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) has granted the company a new patent for a car sunroof, according to MotorTrend.
The patent application reveals that the sunroof will feature a variable opacity glass that will allow for transparency adjustments to be made as per the requirements.
The application also reveals that Apple is planning to use side windows that will open in sequence unlike the regular car’s sunroofs which are fixed and open entirely at a time.
Design-wise the rumoured Apple Car users will be able to allow sunlight or exterior light by simply adjusting the transparency of the window without opening the sunroof.
It is also expected that the new sunroof design will be operable via CarPlay and Siri.
While the new sunroof seems to be interesting and has definitely an Apple touch, the key takeaway with this patent is that Apple is after all working on its own car.
As already mentioned, there are several leaks floating around about the Apple Car, the most recent one being the self-driving system for its car. Also, there’s nothing official about the Apple Car and even if the leak reports are true, it is still a long way to go for Apple
