Apple announces dates of its first big event of 2023 – Times of India

Apple has announced the dates of WorldWide Developer Conference 2023. The annual developer conference will be held in an online format between June 5 to June 9. As the event will be online, it will be free for all developers. However, some developers and students will be invited to be a part of “a special experience at Apple Park on opening day.”
WWDC 2023: What to expect
WWDC23 will give a platform for Apple to showcase the latest iOS, iPadOS, macOS, watchOS, and tvOS advancements. Apple will unveil new operating system versions for iPhone, iPad, Mac, Watch and Apple TV. Even though Apple will showcase the upcoming features, the final versions are expected to be rolled out later in the year only.
Rumour also has it that WWDC 2023 could be the event where Apple talks about its mixed reality device and OS for the first time. For a while now, rumours have been rife about Apple working on a mixed reality — a combination of AR and VR — headset. However, Apple hasn’t officially commented on it. Reports have suggested that an all-new OS is also being developed by Apple.
A report by Bloomberg stated that the OS was supposed to be called RealityOS but Apple internally changed it to xrOS, with “XR” referring to eXtended Reality.
Meanwhile, we can certainly expect a bunch of new features coming to other Apple devices. For iPhone it will be iOS 17 that brings new features and updates. The rumour mill has been quiet about what to expect with iOS 17. And it’s the same case with other OS updates for Apple devices.
Keeping that in mind, the headline act may just be the mixed reality OS. However, we will have to wait till Apple actually announces anything around it. No major hardware announcements are expected at WWDC as it is more of a software-related event.
