Anushka Sharma says ‘they are within you’ as Mallika Dua remembers her late parents’ love story

Actor Anushka Sharma shared a video of comedian Mallika Dua on her Instagram Stories. In the video, Mallika is seen narrating her late parents, Vinod Dua and Dr. Padmavati Dua’s love story. Sharing the video, Anushka called the it ‘beautiful.’ Vinod and Padmavati both died last year due to Covid-19. In the video, which was originally shared by Unerased poetry, Mallika can be heard saying, “”Papa ji, a two-time BA fail, Doordarshan’s bekhauf (fearless) anchor from the refugee colonies of Delhi and mummy aunty, a painstakingly simple, meticulous, Tamilian Doctor from Lady Irwin college who never even had a male friend. These two met and got married within 15 days, eloped of course but not from papa ji’s side because woh toh kisi ke baap se nahi darte hain na (because dad wasn’t scared of anyone).

She added, “They got married and lived together happily ever after, with a brief six month gap between their respective journeys to heaven. She in June and he in December. Makes sense, for they were as different as summer and winter. One was incapable of existing without the other.”

Dia Mirza dropped heart emojis in the comments section of the video. Actor Gauahar Khan commented, “Awwwww.” Anushka Sharma shared the video on her Instagram Stories and captioned it, “Yes, they are within you. This is so beautiful Mallika Dua.”

Mallika’s mother, Dr Padmavati Dua, (also known as Chinna Dua) died on June 11, 2021, during the second wave of Covid-19. Her father, journalist Vinod Dua died on December 4, 2021 after battling Covid-19 related complications. 

Announcing the news of her father’s death, Mallika had written a lengthy tribute on social media. “Our irreverent, fearless and extraordinary father, Vinod Dua has passed away. He lived an inimitable life, rising from the refugee colonies of Delhi to the peak of journalistic excellence for over 42 years, always, always speaking truth to power. He is now with our mom, his beloved wife Chinna in heaven where they will continue to sing, cook, travel and drive each other up the wall,” she wrote.
