Anushka Sharma announces wrap on ‘Chakda Xpress’; Jhulan Goswami joins sets for final clap – Times of India
Joining the ladies in blue was former cricketer Jhulan Goswami who did the honours of ‘the final clap’ to bring an end to the shoot. Photos from the sets saw Anushka and Jhulan joining director Prosit Roy to cut a three-tier cake.
Among the many photos, were some of the actress hugging her director, another shows her lying presumably in an ambulance as Jhulan sat by her side with a clapper board.
The team announced the wrap almost 6 months after commencing work in June 2022.
To step into the shoes of the former Indian cricket captain Anushka, underwent extensive training and even took tips from her cricketer hubby Virat Kohli to ace the role.
Opening up about her film, Anushka wrote in her Instagram post, “It is a really special film because it is essentially a story of tremendous sacrifice. Chakda Xpress is inspired by the life and times of former Indian captain Jhulan Goswami and it will be an eye-opener into the world of women’s cricket. At a time when Jhulan decided to become a cricketer and make her country proud on the global stage, it was very tough for women to even think of playing the sport. This film is a dramatic retelling of several instances that shaped her life and also women’s cricket. (sic).”
‘Chakda Xpress’ will stream on an OTT platform next year.
