Anthony Fauci warns of stricter Coronavirus measures amidst new strain

Fauci is President Biden’s advisor and claims that the new BA.2 subvariant can increase the rate of infections among Americans. He wants the American public to pivot back and forth with the measures that had taken place earlier. He stated that this could be a common way of life now. He stated that he sees some increase in the number of cases and wants his fellow Americans to “pivot back and forth in any situation that may arise.”

Fauci claimed that he is not in a position to say that people have moved on and the virus won’t trouble them anymore. He wants people to be flexible because people are facing a dynamic situation here. He stated that the new variant is less fatal than Omicron and is much lower in overall mortality. An interesting fact is that the cases are rising. However, the severity is not as much as the previous variants. He also dismissed concerns over the effect of the new variant on the economy and believed that it would not be of any significant impact.

A study by the National Commission on Covid and Criminal Justice found that domestic violence had increased by 8.1% in the United States due to the lockdown. There have been concerns regarding the medical impacts during lockdowns. Studies by the New England Journal of Medicine found that the lockdowns affect people psychologically and emotionally. They state that there is stress, irritability, fear, insomnia, depression, boredom, anger, confusion, and frustration when quarantine happens. Some of these symptoms also remain once the lockdown has been lifted.

Fauci faced a lot of criticism due to the fact that he has contradicted himself several times regarding the measures taken for the Coronavirus. Some contradictions include the usage of masks.

According to John Hopkins, the last day saw 52,884 new Coronavirus cases in the U.S. and 1,685 deaths.
