Angelina Revisits Her ’90s Blonde Hair as She Embarks on a New Chapter

As Coco Chanel once said: “A woman who cuts her hair is about to change her life.” The same might be said of a woman who changes her hair color—it’s certainly true of Angelina Jolie.

Adding yet another feather to her cap, the actor, director, and former United Nations goodwill ambassador and special envoy recently announced the launch of Atelier Jolie, a purpose-driven fashion brand that will harness the skill of refugees and other talented (and under-appreciated) groups to create beautiful clothes out of deadstock. For her first collection, the brand has teamed up with French fashion house Chloé and its creative director Gabriela Hearst to create a capsule of womenswear that will highlight the work of the artisans involved in its making and use of lower-impact materials.

In line with her career moves, Jolie has been shaking things up on the hair front. Images of her in the atelier working on the Chloé collab reveal she’s embraced buttery yellow highlights, warming up her trademark chocolate tresses with a halo of white gold that delicately frames her face.

Of course, it’s just the latest of many hair transformations for Angelina, who has experimented with a pixie crop in the past and was a blonde in the ’90s when she put in her Oscar-winning performance in Girl, Interrupted (1999).

Not only does it coincide with her updated CV, but Angelina’s refreshed look also ushers in a new season. And what better way to celebrate summer than with some beachy blonde?
