Hollywood star Angelina Jolie, who is known for her humanitarian work, recently accompanied well-known human rights activist and recipient of the 2018 Nobel Peace Prize, Nadia Murad to Iraq, which is the latter’s hometown. Angelina Jolie and Nadia visited the latter’s childhood home in Sinjar region and later met women and children. Angelina was seen talking to children and also hugging local women in several pictures.Angelina has visited the region before, speaking about her present visit, the actress had shared, “I am honored to return to Iraq, this time to support the work of my friend Nadia Murad and other local Yazidis who are rebuilding their lives and communities after enduring horrors.” She said the region needed the support of the international community to rebuild their lives.

On the work front, Angelina Jolie is all set to portray the role of famous opera singer Maria Callas in her upcoming biopic. This film will be helmed by Oscar-nominated director Pablo Larrain and is is titled ‘Maria’, reprots Variety. “I take very seriously the responsibility to Maria’s life and legacy. I will give all I can to meet the challenge. Pablo Larrain is a director I have long admired. To be allowed the chance to tell more of Maria’s story with him, and with a script by Steven Knight, is a dream,” Jolie had said.
