Ange Postecoglou issues brutal put-down after Bild reporter ambushed Tottenham boss with a Bayern Munich shirt with Harry Kane’s name on the back: ‘Did you get a good laugh?’
- Ange Postecoglou was unimpressed by a German reporter’s antics
- He brandished a Bayern Munich shirt with Harry Kane’s name on the back
- Kane’s future is clouded by uncertainty amid interest from the Germans
Ange Postecoglou looked set to erupt when ambushed by a reporter from a German newspaper brandishing a Bayern Munich shirt emblazoned with Harry Kane’s name during a press conference.
‘Yesterday you said you weren’t that relaxed about the Harry situation, what is your feeling today?’ said the journalist from Bild at the start of the tense exchange.
‘That was two days ago and nothing has changed,’ came the reply, at which point the white Bayern shirt was unfurled for him to see, with Kane 9 printed on the back.
‘What does that look like?’ was the next question. ‘It looks quite good, no?’
Postecoglou was unable to mask his fury. ‘I don’t know what you’re talking about,’ he bristled. ‘Did you get a good laugh? Got what you got? Maybe? Very good, you came a long way for that, thank you.’

He was still fuming a few minutes later when he turned an answer on his work at Tottenham into another pop back at the Bayern stunt.
‘We’re in the early part of it,’ said the 57-year-old Aussie. ‘It’s a massive football club, a massive opportunity and a massive challenge here. That’s what we’ll try to do, bring success to one of the biggest football clubs in the world, big enough to make up fake jumpers to be a presence.’
Kane is into the final year of his Spurs contract and wanted by German champions Bayern, who have yet to make an offer to persuade Daniel Levy to sell.
James Maddison, meanwhile, whose round of golf with Kane during the first leg of the tour in Perth included a surprise encounter with kangaroos, said he was hoping to play more with the England captain.
‘I’m not going to go into details on Harry’s situation,’ said £40m new boy Maddision. ‘But from my point of view I would love to be able to play with him. He’s a world-class centre forward, the best number nine in the world, a brilliant role model and an uber professional guy. Whatever happens happens.’
Kane has been strongly linked with a move to Bundesliga champions Bayern this summer
