JOHANNESBURG – One of the most decorated players in the Premier Soccer League (PSL), Andile Jali is now a free agent after parting ways with Mamelodi Sundowns.
In a statement released on Saturday, the club confirmed the end of its five-year partnership with the soccer star.
The 33-year-old joined the Brazilians in 2018 after leaving Belgian side KV Oostende, and went on to play 142 matches for Sundowns.
The midfielder won five DStv Premiership titles for Mamelodi Sundowns, three under former coach Pitso Mosimane.
He also won every domestic cup on offer including the MTN8, Telkom Knockout and Nedbank Cup as a Brazilian.
But the club and player now part ways amid rumours that he and coach Rulani Mokwena were on sour terms after he allegedly started showing up at training sessions under the influence of alcohol.
After this, the former Bafana Bafana player was seemingly sidelined by management, with Jali not featuring for the Brazilians since the Nedbank Cup round of 32 against Richards Bay FC.
