An Inside Look at Batsheva’s Dreamy Jazz Club Soiree at Casa Cipriani

What is fashion week without the parties that come with it? Usually, these events are synonymous with enormous venues, a star-studded group of attendees, and the hundreds of pop-culture enthusiasts hoping to get inside. At Batsheva, though, minds were set on a more intimate affair.

For her Fall/Winter 2022 collection, Batsheva Hay opted out of a runway show. Instead, the creative director rallied a group of friends (still pretty star-studded), dressed them in the collection, and took them to Casa Cipriani for a jazz-filled evening that smacked of glamour. The party, so to speak, was more reminiscent of a girls’ night out—though the dress code was anything but ordinary.

Within the seductive walls of Casa Cipriani’s Jazz Lounge, actress Hari Nef emitted a sexy dominatrix vibe as she flounced through the room in Batsheva FW22 look 2. On the other hand, Lee Lee Kimmel had an air of 1950s glamour while donning look 12: a teal skirt with a matching jacket adorned with a bow. Other looks were seen on attendees such as Maude Apatow, Molly Ringwald, and Whitney Peak, who sipped cocktails by Yola Mezcal and grooved to the velvety voice of Arsun. It was interesting to see. Attendees either looked like debutantes, prairie girls, or some sort of quirky rendition of either one.

It’s one thing to send a collection down a runway so people can “ooh” and “ahh” at the beauty of her creations. But, to allow her friends the chance to breathe life into clothing—and actually have fun in the clothing!—was perhaps a subtle reminder of what fashion is all about.
