Amitabh Bachchan paid a heartfelt tribute to veteran actress Sulochana Latkar, who passed away on June 4. She was known for essaying iconic motherly roles in the 1960s and 70s.
In his blog post, Big B paid a heartfelt tribute to the 94-year-old actress. “We have lost another great of our Cinema World – Sulochana ji .. the gentle, generous, caring Mother that played in several films with me .. she had been ailing for some time .. and this afternoon she left for her heavenly abode .. I had been monitoring here condition with her family .. but finally the sad news ! We can only pray in such unforgiving circumstances,” shared Amitabh Bachchan.
Further, expressing grief over her demise, he added, “There was work today as well and the timed schedule allowed me to be back for the GOJ .. happily .. but the news of Sulochana ji has taken away all the cheering and joy of the well wishers at Jalsa .. I am hesitant to write anymore .. so do excuse .. More another DAY.”
Speaking to ETimes, Amitabh Bachchan had previously said, “After Nirupa Roy ji she played my mother in the largest number of films. Sulochana ji was indeed a mother-figure to both the Hindi and Marathi film industry. I still remember the beautiful handwritten letter she had sent me on my 75th birthday. It was one of the most cherished gifts I’ve ever received.”
