Amitabh Bachchan is elated at India’s double whammy at the Oscars, exclaims ‘Bharat ka jhanda gaad diya, videsh mein’ – Times of India

Amitabh Bachchan, who is recuperating at home after sustaining a rib injury on the sets of Project K in Hyderabad, took to his Twitter handle earlier today to exclaim his happiness at India’s big win at the Oscars. For the uninitiated, M. M. Keeravani and Chandrabose’s ‘Naatu Naatu’ from RRR become the first Indian song in a Telugu production to win an Academy Award in the ‘Best Original Song’. Not only this, The Elephant Whisperers, directed by Kartiki Gonsalves and produced by Guneet Monga went on to win Best Documentary Short Film.

The veteran actor could not hold his excitement and wrote, “T 4585 – We win! We win two! We win for country and people! We win !! Bharat ka jhanda gaad diya, videsh mein (India has planted its flag, abroad)! OSCAR 95.”

The actor also jotted down his thoughts in his blog and wrote, “We won .. a recognition long overdue .. accepting the reward in the eyes of the beholder .. he that Maketh ; Delivereth .. and deliver he did .. eventually ..But are we so conscious of the attention .. yes we are not considered .. but we do get .. and deservedly so …”

The actor also added that the country has never been ‘any less’ but we have a ‘long way to go.’ He wrote, “But an attention ruled and governed by an alien nation .. .. they that receive make us proud .. we are no less .. never less than any other ..And in the recent time we or rather I discover, that the attention being drawn to them that perpetuated the Colonial system of rule, are being talked debated and given to public consideration for its adequacy and merit .. Let us see .. a long way to go .. but I do believe a small section of society does and has believed in all that is being expounded within and without …”

Amitabh Bachchan will be back shooting after he recovers from the injury. Apart from Project K, the actor will also be seen in the ensemble mythological drama Adipurush with Prabhas, Saif Ali Khan and Kriti Sanon.
