Amit Shah tells officials to visit, monitor border projects

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday directed the officials to visit border areas to monitor schemes and construction of roads and fencing. Shah presided over a ‘Chintan Shivir’ of senior officers of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) to review the work and evolve an action plan for PM’s “Vision 2047.”

Shah also reviewed the functioning of MHA dashboard, Government Land Information System (GLIS), budget utilisation, e-office and special recruitment drive. “The home minister advocated enhanced use of artificial intelligence (AI) to utilise the CCTNS database for critical analysis of crimes, thus, making cities safer for women, children and vulnerable sections. He also reviewed the work of various divisions on their priorities and deliverables in the coming years and position on Atma Nirbhar Bharat,” according to a ministry statement.

Shah further stressed on the need to fast-track the recruitment process and suggested that recruitment “should be initiated well in advance, anticipating the future vacancies” and added that “departmental promotion committee (DPC) should be held regularly so that employees get timely promotions”. Shah also suggested the way forward for the MHA and said that the discussions held at the Chintan Shivir will help in better planning and coordination in these areas,” the home ministry officials added.

Shah emphasised on developing the ecosystem for cybercrime management, modernization of police forces, increased use of IT in criminal justice system, land border management and coastal security,” reads a home ministry statement.
