Amazon founder Jeff Bezos is giving away $124 billion fortune, says report
His donation statement is also after some criticism over his carbon footprint and exotic purchases, which harms the environment. His private jet is also a part of the numerous polluters who arrived in Glasgow for the COP26 conference last year.
What are his plans for Amazon?
Bezos has said that Amazon plans to be 100 per cent renewable by 2025 and totally carbon neutral by 2040. Amazon will also try to get other companies to sign up for the 2040 pledge. This comes after the company had been criticised for its high level of carbon footprint.
It produced 60.64 million metric tons of C02 last year, which is the same as burning 140 million barrels of oil. This might sound a lot but it is nothing compared to the big oil corps.
