A glamorous blowout has long been Amal Clooney’s hair signature, and the human rights lawyer tends to err on the side of caution when it comes to trying new looks—until recently. On a trip to Sicily with her husband over the weekend, Amal sported a disco-ready (and seriously enviable) mane of thick curls.
Opting for “Studio 54 glam” for the party—to celebrate beauty mogul Charlotte Tilbury’s 50th birthday on the island—Clooney enlisted the help of hairstylist Dimitris Giannetos to create hair that was certain to turn heads. With plenty of volume and her trademark side parting, Clooney’s chocolate-brown locks—complete with toffee babylights—were styled into party-ready mermaid waves.
“Amal has naturally very beautiful hair,” says Giannetos. “And the maple highlights I gave her create a 3D effect when it’s styled. To create the look, I used a ¾ inch curling iron and started two inches away from the face, tonging hair in different directions. Then I brushed through the curls for a fluffy, disco, Studio 54 effect.“ He finished with L’Oréal’s classic Elnett hairspray to help hold the style and add extra shine.
She paired the style with an eye-catching chainmail minidress and a full face of Tilbury’s glow-giving makeup. Bold brows, fluttery eyelashes, and a pop of silver eyeshadow in the inner corners of her eyes made for a show-stopping bombshell look, perfect for a Sicilian summer night.
