Recently, Youtube rankings of the year 2022 were announced and as per that survey, Alka Yagnik took the number Uno spot for the higest YouTube streams. She has beaten the likes of BTS, BLACKPINK, and Taylor Swift. Alka emerged as the most streamed artist, globally on YouTube for 2022, as highlighted by the Guinness World Record.
Yagnik stood first with 14.6 billion streams while BTS has got 7.95 billion streams. Interestingly though, after these results were out, Yagnik asked her daughter, “Who is BTS’? The singer didn’t realise the magnitude of this feat until her daughter Syesha explained it to her. Alka revealed in an interview with Radio Nasha that her daughter started laughing when she asked, who is BTS? Eventually, she pointed out to Alka that her digital dreams have skyrocketed.

Alka confessed that numbers don’t really matter to her because these are just numbers. Today, it can be number 1 and tomorrow you can come to number 2. But, what matters is that people love listening to her and have accepted her with open arms for so many years.
However, the singer was happy and grateful to God when her daughter made her realise that it was indeed a big deal. Yagnik who started her career as a playback singer in the 80s, was at the peak of her career in the 90s. She’s sung over 8000 songs so far and continues to remain one of the top female singers that India has ever seen.
