Alia Bhatt promises she didn’t sign her Hollywood film Heart of Stone ‘for the heck of it’
Alia Bhatt has clarified that she did not accept Heart of Stone just to mark her debut in Hollywood. The spy thriller, directed by British filmmaker Tom Harper, is a Netflix original that will also star Gal Gadot and Jamie Dornan. Alia, whose recently-released Gangubai Kathiawadi has become a box Office success, shared the news of her Hollywood debut on her Instagram account earlier this month. The actor, who is celebrating her 29th birthday on Tuesday, recently opened up about the film for the first time. She said that currently her decision to accept a film is based on whether she will enjoy working on it.
She told News 18, “I just don’t want to do it for the heck of it and to tick it off the box. I want to look at opportunities which should have a good part, an interesting dynamic, and cast, something that is new and relevant.”
Alia is now preparing for the release of SS Rajamouli’s RRR with Ram Charan and Jr NTR on March 25. She will also be seen opposite boyfriend Ranbir Kapoor in Ayan Mukerji’s Brahmastra. The film, scheduled for a release on September 9 this year, also stars Amitabh Bachchan, Nagarjuna, and Mouni Roy. In addition to that, Alia is working with Ranveer Singh on Karan Johar’s Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani, which also stars Dharmendra and Jaya Bachchan.
She has also launched a new production house Eternal Sunshine Productions, and will be releasing the studio’s first film Darlings in collaboration with Shah Rukh Khan’s Red Chillies Entertainment. Alia plays the lead in the film which also stars Shefali Shah.
Alia said that her projects are no longer influenced by competition. She said, “The rat race is something that isn’t satisfying and sometimes it gets addictive and negative also. So it doesn’t drive me anymore. I don’t want to be in that game. What is driving me is to keep working with people with who I am comfortable and doing films and roles that I love. I want to keep it light, happy and do meaningful cinema.”
