Akshay Kumar’s ‘Sooryavanshi’ gets leaked online hours after its theatrical release – Times of India

Akshay Kumar’s ‘Sooryavanshi’ had to wait for a long time before its theatrical release and what a superb opening it received this Friday. According to industry experts, the Rohit Shetty directorial has shattered the box office on day one even if there’s curtailed occupancy of 50% in major parts of India. However, despite the Box Office success, there’s one thing that might become a concern for the makers of the action entertainers.

The film has already been leaked online. The piracy happened within a few hours of the theatrical release. ‘Sooryavanshi’ was leaked on several movie download websites like Tamilrockers and FilmyZilla along with a few piracy sites, torrents, and some Telegram channels who have uploaded the film’s download link, that too in full HD format.

This online leak of the film in such a short time will surely frustrate the makers. Many movie buffs who used to enjoy first-day first shows are still not comfortable with stepping out and watching films in theatres because of the Covid-19 pandemic. It will be interesting to see whether it affects ‘Sooryavanshi’s box office numbers.

‘Sooryavanshi’ was initially supposed to release in theatres on March 27 last year but it had to be postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic. Then the release date was announced as April 30, 2021, but again it was changed after a surge in COVID cases.

The action entertainer sees Akshay playing the lead character of Veer Suryavanshi, which was introduced as an ATS officer in a cameo role in Ranveer Singh’s 2018 hit ‘Simmba’. The film also has Katrina Kaif opposite Akshay Kumar and Ajay Devgn in a special appearance.
