Akshay took to his Twitter handle and shared a throwback photo of them together from an event. Along with the photo, he wrote, ‘Onscreen the most stylish and offscreen the most humble person I know, with qualities I always admire and aspire for. May you keep inspiring generations to come. Wishing you a very happy birthday @rajinikanth sir.’

Akshay and Rajinikanth shared screen space in ‘2.0’ where the Bollywood actor played the role of the antagonist. In one of his throwback fan interactions on Twitter, Akshay had spoken about his experience of working with the megastar. When a Twitter user asked Akshay, “How was the experience of shooting with the great Rajinikanth sir?”, he replied, “Oh like you couldn’t imagine, simply INCREDIBLE!” When asked what he has learnt from the South superstar, he said, “It’s his peaceful work ethic.”

Meanwhile, on the work front, Rajinikanth has two films, ‘Jailer’ and ‘Laal Salaam’ in his pipeline. Akshay, on the other hand, has films like ‘Selfiee’, ‘Bade Miyan Chote Miyan’ and ‘OMG 2’. He will also be seen making a special cameo appearance in the upcoming Marathi film, ‘Vedat Marathe Veer Daudle Saat’.
