Akshay Kumar, Bhumi Pednekar and the cast of ‘Raksha Bandhan’ come together for special screening ahead of film’s release – Times of India

Ahead of the festive release of his film ‘Raksha Bandhan’, Akshay Kumar, Bhumi Pednekar, the cast of the film and a few celebrity guests got together for the red carpet premiere on Wednesday night.

Director Aanand L Rai was joined by his leading ladies including Sahejmeen Kaur, Deepika Khanna, Smrithi Srikanth, and Sadia Khateeb, who stunned in their traditional best attire. For the special screening, Akki played it cool in a summery floral printed shirt. The actor made a solo appearance at the event.

Although wife Twinkle was not present, she made sure to voice her support for her man and the film. “Raksha Bandhan made me laugh in the first half and cry through the second. A movie about the India we all pretend doesn’t exist. A reality that we wish didn’t exist. We have changed terms, from ‘dowry’ to ‘gifts’ but in homes across social-economic strata, variations of the custom loom large,” Twinkle wrote in her review, while also going on to add,
“I dare you to leave the theatre dry-eyed.”

Besides the star cast, television and Bollywood actors like Sunny Kaushal, Himesh Reshammiya, Aneri Vajani and Rupali Ganguly, among others also attended the screening.

Ahead of the release, Akshay, who is gearing up for his third release this year, said that he does not feel affected by box office numbers as ‘ups and downs happen in everyone’s life’.

Akshay said in a statement to IANS, “We are making films. We are not taking responsibilities. Yeah, a man would think that his film works so that he has the strength to go forward to make films as there are so many other issues. But responsibilities, don’t want to think that much. My last two films did not work. People came up to me and said that you have to do something now, I made films and did not work.”

Akshay also addresses the mixed responses to his film saying, “Aman puts in everything in making a film and after that doing the publicity of that film that too takes a toll. Only till Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The three days of release that affect and from Monday different work starts.”
