Akarsh Khurana on his acting career: A lot of decisions that I have made are because of my personal equations – Exclusive! – Times of India
The filmmaker revealed that he is fond of writing and directing. He said, ”Unfortunately, I don’t manage enough time to do writing as much I like to do.”
Spilling the beans about the work he did at home during COVID induced lockdown, he said, ”All writers got free time to write during the lockdown. We all were stuck in a home. I did some writing then but I also did post-production of the show that I had directed. I was caught up with that.”
Speaking about his acting career, he explained, ”I usually say yes to an acting role if I know the people who are involved in it and they are friends of mine. A lot of acting decisions that I have made is because of personal equations.”
Theatre holds a special place in his heart. He revealed, ”I started theatre as a hobby, we were a bunch of friends that came together. When I opened my theatre company, for the first 5-6 years, we realised we were doing a decent amount of theatre but we were also losing a lot of money. That was one big reality check. We had to figure out a sensible way to do theatre. We had to be sensible about how to spend money on it and keep the finances in mind because after a point it would have been impossible to run the company if we continuously make losses.”
Akarsh further said, ”The first 7 years of the theatre company were very difficult financially. We had to change the way we did things, the kind of plays we did and the number of plays we did. We had to be smarter about everything.”
Shedding some light on his upcoming projects, he said, ”I am right now completing the 2nd season of the Netflix show called ‘Mismatched’. I am quite busy with that. I am busy with theatre work as well. I am opening a play in March. I am also working on a teleplay, which we will be shooting next month.”
