Aishwarya Rai Bachchan wraps ‘Ponniyin Selvan’, announces release in 2022 – Times of India

Ever since lockdown norms were eased across the country, Aishwarya stated shooting for this movie. The team of ‘Ponniyin Selvan’ shot extensively in Puducherry and then shifted to Hyderabad for the next schedule. Recently, Aishwarya shot for an elaborate song in Maheshwar, Madhya Pradesh. The actress was accompanied by 400 junior artists and all those shooting with Aishwarya had reportedly taken two doses of vaccine and were also undergoing the COVID-19 test on a daily basis. ‘Ponniyin Selvan’ is based on Kalki Krishnamurthy’s 1955 novel by the same name. Apart from Aishwarya, this movie also stars Vikram, Karthi, Trisha Krishnan, Prakash Raj, Jayaram, Jayam Ravi and Aishwarya Lekshmi among others.

‘Ponniyin Selvan’ will reportedly feature Aishwarya in a double role, that of princess Nandini, and her mother, queen Mandakini Devi. While she was shooting in Puducherry, Aishwarya was accompanied by husband Abhishek Bachchan and daughter Aaradhya. The trio had also visited actor R Sarathkumar’s family there. Post the visit, R Sarathkumar’s daughter Varalaxmi had penned an appreciation post for the Bachchans and shared, “Met 3 of the warmest and most humble people last night.. none other than the gorgeous @aishwaryaraibachchan_arb the handsome hunk @bachchan and their sweetest daughter #aaradhyabachchan Despite the families and lineage that they hail from, their humility and warmth was so amazing, I was just overwhelmed with their love.!!!
