AICC will discuss all issues in Kerala unit: Tariq Anwar
“The AICC is open to discuss all issues and grievances in the Kerala Congress unit in the wake of appointment of the presidents of 14 district Congress committees (DCC). The representatives of the AICC, PCC (Pradesh Congress committee) and other senior leaders had held discussions prior to the appointment of the DCC presidents but if some issues are still persisting, the AICC will certainly discuss and address them,” Anwar told ET.
About former CM Oommen Chandy and ex-PCC chief Ramesh Chennithala openly expressing their reservations about the manner the DCC presidents were chosen, Anwar said: “Both Oomman Chandy ji and Ramesh Chennithala ji are our senior leaders and pillars of the Congress party in Kerala. I will soon be talking to them and listening to their views.”
Hinting at a possible peace formula, he said: “Only 14 persons could have been accommodated as DCC presidents in Kerala. Now, we will be appointing the larger party committees and office bearers, including the PCC general secretaries, vice presidents and PCC executive committee members. Similarly, DCC committees and office-bearers too will be appointed. That can be an occasion for larger accommodation of representatives of all sections of the Congress party in Kerala.”
Anwar said he was unaware of the AICC receiving any written complaint from the Congress functionaries of Kerala regarding DCC chiefs’ appointment.
