After ‘Kantara’, Rishab Shetty to star in a Telugu film, says Allu Aravind – Times of India
At a recently held press meet, Allu Aravind revealed that he has called and asked Rishab to star in his next film after watching Kantara in Kannada. He said, ”I have asked Rishab to star in my next film under the banner of Geetha Arts, and he immediately agreed. So, once we lock an idea, we will reveal the details of the project.”
Set and filmed in Keraadi in coastal Karnataka, the film stars Rishabh as a Kambala champion, who is at loggerheads with an upright DRFO officer, Murali (Kishore). Set in the fictional village of Dakshina Kannada, ‘Kantara’ is a visual grandeur that brings alive the traditional culture of Kambala and Bhoota Kola art form to the fore. The soul of the story is on human and nature conflict, which is deeply rooted in the coastal culture and folklore of Karnataka.
Upon its release, several celebrities like Prabhas, Anushka Shetty, Dhanush, Anil Kumble, and Prashanth Neel expressed their appreciation for the film. The original Kannada version was released on September 30 and has made a mark at the box office, garnering over Rs 100 crore. The film also stars Kishore, and Achyuth Kumar in pivotal roles. It has been produced by Hombale Films, who made the ‘KGF’ series. Allu Aravind made it available to the Telugu audience through his Geetha Film Distributors.
