An AFL player has responded in perfect fashion after he was the sport’s latest star to be sent horrifying racial abuse on social media.
Recent Gold Coast Suns signing Mabior Chol is the latest subject of horrific racial abuse from a social media user, and made a point of calling out the attack.
The 24-year-old, who recently switched from Richmond to the Suns, shared the disgusting message on his Instagram page.

Chol responded: “Wow imagine being this low …”
The Suns were quick to leap to the defence of their new recruit and denounced the abuse in a statement on their Twitter account.
“The Gold Coast Suns wholeheartedly condemn racist comments made towards one of our players via social media,” the statement read.
“It’s simply not good enough, there is no place for racism in sport or society, it has to stop.
“As a club and community, we must live up to our mantra of Challenge Accepted and call out racist behaviour, when we witness it.
“We encourage people to better educate themselves and those around them, on the impact racist behaviour has on the victims and their family.
“We need everyone to accept the challenge and stamp out racism.”
Richmond retweeted the Suns’ message, adding: “We support Mabior Chol in calling out this disgusting behaviour and stand with him and @GoldCoastSUNS in condemning racism and discrimination.”
The racist abuse directed at Chol continues a worrying trend of attacks on AFL players in recent times.
Earlier this season, Port Adelaide star Aliir Aliir was subjected to online racial attacks after playing a starring role in the side’s win over the Crows in August.
Essendon’s Anthony McDonald-Tipingwuti was another who was sent horrific racial abuse on social media and released a statement of his own on Instagram, calling for unity among all Australians.
“As a society we should never define anyone by the colour of their skin, religion, race, culture or ability. In Australia we are one people and a diverse community that should be galvanising together instead of ripping each other apart,” McDonald-Tipungwuti wrote.
“My family and I, like many others, are separated by distance and Covid restrictions which has made this year very difficult for all. We all feel isolated and we should be using our words to unite us in the face of adversity.”
