Adipurush does a belly flop, struggles to earn Rs 1 crore as Satyaprem Ki Katha lands at the box office | Hindi Movie News – Times of India

It seems like director Om Raut‘s controversial film Adipurush may wrap up its theatrical run sooner than imagined. The film has been outrightly rejected by the audience for its modern depiction of the ancient Indian epic Ramayana. The movie has been on a free fall after its opening weekend and since then it showed no signs of recovery.
Adipurush was enjoying a solo run at the box office when it was released in theatres on June 16.And now thatKartik Aaryan and Kiara Advani‘s film Satyaprem Ki Katha has been released, Adipurush has done a belly flop at the box office.
According to the reports, Adipurush has struggled to earn even Rs 1 crore. On Thursday, it collected merely Rs 90 lakh approximately and it seems like the movie might even not be able to cross Rs 300 crore mark after minting Rs 216 crore in its opening weekend. On the other hand, Satyaprem Ki Katha has earned Rs 8.50 crore on day 1.From critics to reviewers, several people from across the country have expressed disappointment over the film’s certain dialogues. In the wake of such flak, the makers of Adipurush revamped the dialogues but the damage had already been done.
The Allahabad High Court has slammed the makers of Adipurush for their objectionable portrayal of Hindu gods and it also questioned the members of CBFC for allowing the movie to pass the certification process.
