Director Om Raut‘s much-talked about film Adipurush has finally released in theatres and it has registered some extraordinary numbers in India and overseas on its opening day at the box office. According to reports, Adipurush’s Hindi version alone is looking to earn between Rs 36-38 crore nett on the first day of its release.
The film, which stars Prabhas as Raghav, Kriti Sanon as Janaki and Saif Ali Khanas Lankesh, is performing outside the bigger national chain cinemas, be it multiplexes or single screens.Due to strong business in mass circuits, the movie has now become the third best opener in Hindi after Pathaan and KGF 2 post pandemic.
Adipurush has also scored heavily in Nizam and Andhra circuits which is likely to make up to Rs 40 crore nett. If the Telugu version, Hindi circuits and the rest of South are combined, the film is looking to register around Rs 90 crore nett and a gross collection of Rs 110-112 crore on day 1 in India. The Telugu version of the film has also performed well overseas and now the Hindi version has also picked up pace. While the final overseas numbers are yet to be calculated, it is expected to register Rs 140-150 crore worldwide on its opening day.
Meanwhile, Adipurush has faced criticism for the quality of its VFX and ‘tapori’ style dialogues mouthed by Devdatta Nage playing Lord Hanuman. Critics were more severe in judging the film, calling it a hotch-potch of movies of the past.
