Actor Ritwick Chakraborty mocks Paresh Rawal for his controversial ‘cook fish for Bengalis’ remark – Times of India

The Kolkata Police has already sent a notice to actor-politician Paresh Rawal requesting him to appear before them on December 12 after his controversial ‘cook fish for Bengalis’ remark kicked up a social media storm. Kolkata Police has booked Rawal for his comment since a complaint by CPI (M) leader and West Bengal state secretary Mohammed Salim was laodged, as it accused Rawal of making the speech “to provoke riots” and “destroy the harmony between Bengali community and other communities across the country”.

Now, actor Ritwick Chakraborty whose ventriloquism videos along with a doll has become quite popular on social media mocked Paresh Rawal in yet another witty video. In the Facebook post, Riwick’s doll even called Paresh Rawal ‘Parshe Bowal’ (in Bengali Parshe and Bowal means two different fish). The video went viral instantly.

Last week, while attending a rally in Gujarat’s Valsad, Rawal had stated, “Gas cylinders are expensive, but their price will come down. People will get employment too. But what will happen if Rohingya migrants and Bangladeshis start living around you, like in Delhi? What will you do with gas cylinders? Cook fish for the Bengalis?” Rawal said. After his speech stirred controversy and was heavily criticized for the remark, Rawal had to apologize.

However, his remark offended many Bengalis and on December 1, Mohammed Salim lodged a complaint against the veteran actor at the Taltala police station and a case was registered under sections 153 (wantonly giving provocation with intent to cause riot), 153A (whoever deliberately or wantonly causes or provokes any riot), 153B (imputation, assertions prejudicial to national integration), 504 (intentional interest with intent to provoke breach of the peace) and 505 (with intent to cause, or which is likely to cause) of the Indian Penal Code.
