Activision may remove two maps from the original Call of Duty Warzone – Times of India

Activision’s Call of Duty Warzone is a free-to-play game that has been popular since its release in 2020. Since its initial days, the game has evolved beyond the classic battle royale game by offering new modes and maps like the Rebirth Island. Now, a new rumour suggests that Activision wants players to move over to the game’s sequel (Call of Duty: Warzone 2) which will be a free-to-play title and will also be available on the same platform.
A Call of Duty insider with a Twitter account named TheGhostofHope has claimed (spotted by Comicbook.com) that two maps will be removed from the original Call of Duty Warzone. The original game is rumoured to ditch the Rebirth Island and the Fortune’s Keep map after the launch of its sequel — Call of Duty Warzone 2.

However, it is not clear if a similar map or other versions of these maps will be included in the game’s sequel. Also, it is important to note that the game’s publisher has not shared any details about the maps being removed.

Call of Duty Warzone 2 is scheduled to launch on November 16, a few weeks after the release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II which is set to release on October 28.
Importance of these two maps
Both Rebirth Island and Fortune’s Keep are different from the classic battle royale maps as they are much smaller and also allow faster matches (depending on the mode).

The game even allows players to respawn in these maps when their whole team is alive for a long enough time. These maps are fast-paced and stick to the classic “aggressive playstyle” of Call of Duty.
