Aaron Rodgers trains with New York Jets for the first time

Aaron Rodgers wastes no time in getting down to work with the New York Jets as he takes to the training field with old pal Allen Lazard

Aaron Rodgers has already got stuck into training with the New York Jets as the team posted a clip of him throwing a football to his old pal Allen Lazard on Thursday.

The star quarterback finally ended the trade saga when he completed his move to the Big Apple after 18 years with the Green Bay Packers on Monday.

He spoke to the media as a Jet for the first time on Wednesday and 24 hours later he was out on the field gearing up for the new season.

Rodgers has linked back up with Lazard after he swapped the Packers for the Jets prior to the 39-year-old’s trade.

The sight of the pair linking up for the Jets will take some getting used to but it’s set to continue to be a strong partnership.

Despite the arduous trade negotiations, Jets GM Joe Douglas remained so confident in his ability to acquire the four-time NFL MVP that he went out and signed one of the quarterback’s favorite targets, ex-Packers receiver Lazard, to a four-year, $44million deal.

Rodgers arrived in New York and signaled that he is relishing the challenge from new teammate and fellow quarterback Zach Wilson.

Rodgers liked a Tweet from Barstool Sports republishing Wilson’s now infamous quotes as he gets set to start a new chapter in his remarkable career.

Wilson said earlier this year that if the Jets sign a new quarterback, he’ll ‘make that dude’s life hell in practice every day’.

Wilson himself has not commented on the move but has previously underlined his admiration of Rodgers.

Speaking last October, Wilson said: ‘I’ve been watching him since I was a little kid, trying to replicate the way he throws, the way he plays the game.

‘We didn’t have an NFL team in Utah. I wouldn’t say I was a Packers fan. I was just an Aaron Rodgers fan. I grew up watching him.

‘I always liked watching their games because of him and kind of where he was at. He was a quarterback I tried to replicate and steal things from.’
