Aaron Rodgers trade rumors caused drama between Matt LaFleur and Kyle Shanahan
Green Bay Packers head coach Matt LaFleur was understandably upset with Kyle Shanahan when the 49ers tried trading for Aaron Rodgers.
During the NFL offseason, all eyes were on Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers. Rumors kept swirling that Rodgers could potentially end up getting traded, with the San Francisco 49ers among the teams hoping to land him.
Despite Green Bay head coach Matt LaFleur and Kyle Shanahan being friends and having a long relationship, it appears the Packers head man wasn’t too happy with San Francisco trying to swoop in and land Rodgers.
Per NFL insider Mike Silver, LaFleur was beyond irriated with Shanahan. This only makes things even more interesting leading up to the Sunday Night Football clash between the two NFC powerhouses.
Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers will look to take down the 49ers come Sunday night
Per Silver, Shanahan was just trying to do his due-diligence ahead of the NFL Draft, as he didn’t want to see Rodgers end up getting traded to a different team. However, LaFleur had made it more than clear that Rodgers was going to stay put, and no one should waste their time trying to offer Green Bay something.
At the end of the day, Rodgers didn’t make his way to San Francisco or Denver and he’s now focused on helping the Packers take the 49ers down come Sunday. LaFleur and Shanahan have known each other for years, so fans really shouldn’t expect any sort of on-field drama to go down before or after kickoff.
With that said, you better believe LaFleur would love to record a convincing win over him this weekend. Things will only be made better if Rodgers blows up and ends up throwing for 3-4 touchdowns. Stay tuned to see how things play out.
