Aaron Rodgers STILLL unsure if he’ll return for 19th season after down year with the Packers

Aaron Rodgers is STILLL unsure whether or not he’ll return for a 19th season… and he’s ‘not part of conversations’ regarding his Packers future with team potentially set to trade him

Aaron Rodgers said Tuesday he’s yet to decide whether he’ll hang up his cleats from the NFL, and said he’s currently ‘not a part of conversations’ going on regarding his future in Green Bay.

Rodgers signed a three-year, $150m extension with the team in March 2022 and is under contract until 2026, but played poorly last season as the Packers missed the playoffs.

And after 18 seasons in Green Bay, trade rumors are swirling around the quarterback – and even he doesn’t seem certain of what will happen next.

‘It sounds like there’s already conversations going on that aren’t involving me. That’s very interesting,’ Rodgers said on the The Pat McAfee Show.

‘Honestly, I’ve been insulated to a lot of that. I was in Nashville and I’ll be up here [at the Pebble Beach Pro-Am] this week playing in the tournament.

‘So, I’m not a part of those conversations right now. When I make up my mind one way or the other, you guys and the Packers and everyone else will know at some point.’

Rodgers’ comments come after ESPN reported the franchise would ‘prefer to move on’ from the 39-year-old and trade him.

While the quarterback previously said a trade ‘wouldn’t offend me, and it wouldn’t make me feel like a victim’ on the McAfee show, reports of his possible departure have fueled speculation as to what his next destination could be.

One such possibility is the quarterback-needy New York Jets, where he’d be able to reunite with former Packers offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett (now in the same role with the Jets).

‘Love Hack. Hack is my guy. Love him and Megan and the kids,’ Rodgers said. ‘They’re really special to me. We really bonded when he was in Green Bay. He made it fun. He made the room fun. He made the weeks fun.’

The four-time MVP suggested he wouldn’t make a decision before the Super Bowl, but indicated he was ‘confident’ his choice would become more clear to him within the next couple of weeks.
