Barcelona are interested in signing Arsenal striker Alexandre Lacazette in a cut-price deal during the January transfer window.

Lacazette’s five-year deal expires at the end of June 2022 and he could leave the Emirates for free should he opt to run down his contract.

Therefore, Arsenal could be open to selling Lacazette – who signed for the Gunners for a club-record £46.5million in 2017 – at a discounted price in January.

According to Fichajes, Lacazette is eager to leave the club after falling out of favour under Mikel Arteta.

The Spanish outlet also states that Barcelona have entered the transfer race to sign Lacazette. However, they will face stiff competition from Atletico Madrid.

Sportsmail previously reported how Atletico had registered an interest in the 30-year-old.

It is believed Atleti are keeping tabs on the former Lyon striker as Diego Simeone looks to bolster his attacking options.

Ronald Koeman is eager to solve the ongoing crisis at Barcelona – having failed to win for the third game running on Thursday night.

The Dutch manager believes Lacazette could be the answer as he has scored 67 goals and contributed 29 assists in 173 appearances across all competitions during his time at Arsenal.

However, his opportunities this season have been few and far between as he has fallen down the pecking order under Arteta.

The Frenchman missed the first two Premier League games of the campaign after contracting coronavirus last month.

Additionally, he has only played 31 minutes of league football so far, coming on a substitute during Arsenal’s 5-0 thrashing at the hands of Manchester City on August 28.

An unused substitute in the Gunners’ last two Premier League games,  Lacazette made his first start of the season on Wednesday night, scoring in the Gunners’ 3-0 win over AFC Wimbledon in the third round of the Carabao Cup.

The goal was his second in the competition this season, coming a month after he scored in the 6-0 rout of West Bromwich Albion in the previous round.
