OAKVILLE, Ont. — Oskar Eriksson scored two points in the eighth end to lift Team Niklas Edin to a 6-5 victory over Team Joël Retornaz during Draw 7 action Wednesday in the WFG Masters at Sixteen Mile Sports Complex.
Team Edin improved to a 2-0 round-robin record and a share of the lead in the Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling major tournament.
Eriksson, who normally throws third, continues to skip the Swedish squad after Edin sustained a lower-body injury prior to the semifinals of the HearingLife Tour Challenge in October.
Although they carried on short-handed to win that tournament to claim a fourth career GSOC men’s title, Daniel Magnusson has joined the lineup to throw second stones this week.
Second Rasmus Wranå has moved up to third with Christoffer Sundgren remaining at lead.
Retornaz, from Italy, is now level at 1-1.

Saskatoon’s Team Colton Flasch (1-1) scored their first win with a 6-4 victory over Switzerland’s Team Michael Brunner (0-2).
Scotland’s Team Ross Whyte climbed to a 2-0 record by doubling up on Team Marco Hösli from Switzerland 10-5. Hösli is at the opposite end of the spectrum winless at 0-2.
