iPhones worth $95,000 robbed outside Apple Store in the US – Times of India

Apple Stores in the US have been on the news for the past few weeks. Last week, a 53-year-old man crashed his SUV through the front window of an Apple store in Boston. Now, a new report claims that a man was beaten and robbed of his newly purchased iPhones near the Apple Store on Manhattan’s Fifth Avenue in New York. According to a report by AppleInsider, the New York Police Department has mentioned that a 27-year-old victim was attacked shortly after he left the Apple Store with his goods. Before the attack, the man purchased 300 iPhones from the Manhattan Apple Store. The attackers robbed him of around $95,000 worth of merchandise.
How did the attack take place
As per the report, one of the Apple store employees put 300 iPhone 13 boxes in three large bags and handed them over to the victim at around 1:45 am. Soon after he returned to his car with the bags, another vehicle pulled up near him and two men started demanding the bags. The attackers punched the victim in the face as he tried to fight them and managed to steal one of the iPhone-filled bags before driving away.
NYPD has reportedly confirmed that the bag stolen by the attackers contained 125 iPhones which were worth approximately $95,000. The police also explained the reason why the victim had so many iPhones in his possession. The victim regularly made large purchases from the Cupertino giant to resell them through his small business and this was also a part of his order.

Why the victim decided to buy so many iPhones at the odd hour
The report claims that the man wasn’t gravely injured and refused medical attention at the scene. Apple’s store on Fifth Avenue allows users to purchase merchandise even at odd hours as it remains open 24 hours a day.
To avoid shifting such a high-value order in front of the general public, the victim and the store may have decided it as an early-morning activity. The report claims that the odd hour could have made the man more of an easy target for theft.
The report also notes that NYPD is currently investigating the attack and is yet to release a description of the suspects or their vehicle.
