Deshaun Watson in trouble AGAIN as footage shows banned quarterback being busted for speeding

Suspended Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson was caught speeding 97mph in a 70mph zone back in June, as seen in police body camera footage obtained by DailyMail.com.

The incident took place on June 11—roughly two months before Watson was suspended for the first 11 games of the 2022 season and fined $5 million over accusations of sexual misconduct from dozens of women.

Watson received a speeding citation and paid a $185 fine after being pulled over in Clyde, Ohio by a state trooper. Police body camera footage shows Watson at the wheel of a black SUV with an unidentified female passenger sitting up front with a dog on her lap and another passenger in the back. Both passengers’ faces are blurred in the police body camera footage, as is the face of the woman’s lap dog.

Both Watson and the officer were polite and respectful towards each other during the recorded exchange. The officer even remarked that the barking dog was ‘a killer,’ prompting the female passenger to sigh and reply: ‘I know, right?’

Watson told the officer that he was coming from Detroit, where he had business.

At one point, he struggled to find his insurance card before suggesting that its absence could be explained by his recent move from Houston to Cleveland.

‘I just got traded to the Browns,’ Watson told the officer, three months after being dealt from the Houston Texans to the Cleveland Browns for three first-round picks.

The officer explained to Watson that he was getting a speeding ticket for going 27mph over the limit. The two briefly discussed procedural issues, such as payment details and the possibility of getting points added to his license, before the officer bid Watson and his party farewell.

‘Please be careful pulling out for me and definitely drive safe,’ the officer said.

A 26th sexual misconduct accusation surfaced against Watson in another lawsuit earlier this month, but a Texas judge has since ruled that the plaintiff must resubmit the filing with her name in order to proceed.

The plaintiff’s lawyer, Michelle Kornblith said her client has no issue providing the accuser’s name to the defendant but wanted assurances it would not be made public for safety purposes.

‘We actually have no problem letting them know who our plaintiff is but we would request either a confidentiality order or a protection order,’ Kornblith said.

‘We’re already getting hate emails and mail from the minute this was filed and we’re concerned for her safety. And like I said, we have no problem telling him who the plaintiff is, so long as we know she’ll be safe.’

The three-time Pro Bowl QB was allegedly sexually inappropriate with the women during massage therapy appointments while he played for Houston between 2019 and 2021. Watson settled lawsuits filed by the women, who have accused him of everything from indecent exposure to claims of forced oral sex.

The 27-year-old quarterback was originally suspended six games by an independent arbitrator before the NFL appealed the perceived light sentence in August. NFL commissioner Roger Goodell had the right to rule over the appeal, but instead tapped former New Jersey attorney general Peter C. Harvey to handle the duties.

Ultimately, though, the NFL and players’ union reached a compromise Thursday before Harvey issued his decision.

As part of the deal, Watson was required to ‘promptly undergo a professional evaluation by behavioral experts and will follow their treatment program.’ He previously told reporters that he was already undergoing counseling.

Women’s groups largely condemned the final punishment, although the Cleveland Rape Crisis Center applauded the NFL for stiffening the six-game ban that was originally imposed on Watson.

‘Cleveland Rape Crisis Center stands with those who have been hurt by Deshaun Watson,’ read the statement from the group. ‘While traditional avenues of criminal justice may have failed his accusers, today’s NFL and NFLPA settlement of increased punishment is a step towards validating their experiences.’

Two separate Texas grand juries declined to indict Watson, who has denied the claims. And although he apologized ‘for any pain this situation has caused,’ he reiterated his belief in his own innocence when talking to reporters in August.

As fate would have it, Watson will make his Browns debut against his former team in Houston, where Cleveland will face the Texans on December 4 – 700 days after his last regular season game. (He was benched throughout the 2021 season in Houston following the allegations)

With the allegations looming, Watson was acquired in a trade with the Texans in March and quickly agreed to a restructured contract, guaranteeing him $230 million over five seasons in Cleveland. (Watson’s $5 million fine and roughly $640,000 he’ll lose in game checks represents just 2.4 percent of his entire contract)
