Tata Cliq CEO Vikas Purohit quits
Purohit is understood to have signed on an offer from a leading MNC in a non competing sector to head its India business, it is learnt.
Purohit was unavailable for comment.
As part of group strategy, Tata Cliq is being integrated with Tata Neu ‘super’ app, which has been made a subsidiary of Tata Digital. The integration is part of the group’s plan to consolidate its major ecommerce ventures under this entity. At present, Tata Cliq is run by Tata UniStore that is jointly owned by Tata Industries and the group’s lifestyle retail venture Trent.
An alumnus of the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore, Purohit has vast experience in the ecommerce and fashion retail market. He had joined Tata Cliq in November 2016. Before this, he was associated with Paytm, Amazon India, Tommy Hilfiger, Reliance Brands and Madura Garments.
Tata Cliq began operations in 2016 and while its net losses more-than-doubled in 2021-22 to Rs 750.62 crore (Rs 361.72 crore in FY21) though revenue jumped 137% to Rs 844.6 crore.

Tata Cliq had this year exited the electronics category and sold the inventory to group company, Infiniti Retail, which owns electronics retailer Croma, for about Rs 113 crore.
