Google updates Clock app for Pixel tablet: What has changed – Times of India

Google has recently released the Pixel 7 series smartphones and the company’s first-ever smartwatch, the Pixel Watch, at an event. Apart from unveiling the new devices, the tech giant has also teased the Pixel tablet that is expected to release in 2023. The company is now updating several first-party apps to optimise them for the bigger display that will be offered by the Pixel tablet. The Google Clock app is one of the apps that has been optimised for the upcoming tablet. Google has started rolling out version 7.3 of the Clock app on the Play Store.
Clock app new changes: For smartphones
The updated Clock app will now show redesigned timers on Android smartphones. A new outline will be displayed as the timer runs and the new interface will reportedly make it easier for users to delete a timer. Users will be able to use a new ‘x’ button that will appear on the top right corner of the screen to exit the timer. The ‘x’ button will replace the existing trash can icon that is shown in the bottom left corner.

Apart from this, the option to schedule alarms in smartphones is also getting an important upgrade. The Clock app has allowed users to schedule alarms before an important meeting or for catching a flight for a long time now.
However, when users set this alarm for a particular day in the week, the alarm keeps recurring on the same day of every week after that day until it is removed. The new update will mitigate this hassle to stop the recurring alarms and will work only for the particular day of that week for which it has been set.
Clock app new changes: For tablets
The timer redesign with the outline will also be available for tablets. According to Esper’s Mishaal Rahman, the screen saver feature on the new version Clock app will also allow users to tap to set alarms and timers directly from the home screen which wasn’t available earlier.

Rahman has also reportedly mentioned (to AndroidPolice) that the new interface has arrived with codes that include the name “Titan” in it, which is also the codename for the upcoming Pixel Tablet.

Google is trying to design the Pixel tablet as a smart home control centre like its Nest Hub series and the company has also revealed that the device will ship with a magnetic dock.
