Penrith fans and players who started a ‘We hate Parra’ chant at the club’s grand final celebration on Monday have been slammed for their ‘ungracious’ behaviour in victory.
After defeating the Eels 28-12 in Sunday night’s grand final, Panthers players fronted up to at Penrith Stadium on Monday morning to present the Provan-Summons Trophy to their fans.
Addressing the 3000 fans in attendance, prop James Fisher-Harris, who appeared to be slightly stuttering and slurring his words, stuck the knife into Parramatta further after their poor performance.

‘I just want to say Parra are our sons. Right here, right now, that’s just a fact,’ Fisher-Harris said, a reference to a pre-match sledge by half Jarome Luai.
Fisher-Harris’ ‘sons’ sledge was born out of Luai claiming the club was no longer the ‘little brother’ of Parramatta – once western Sydney’s most powerful club – and instead the Eels could ‘call them daddy’.
It was a claim he doubled-down on after the side’s grand final victory.
It led fans to begin a ‘We hate Parra’ chant, which Panther players Jaeman Salmon and Liam Martin can be seen joining in on from the stage.

Given Salmon was given his first NRL chance at Parramatta, and would likely not be playing in the grand final at all if not for their numerous lifelines after a string of off-field indiscretions, it was a curious choice.
As the old adage goes, be as humble in defeat as you are gracious in victory – something many fans have accused the club of during their incredible three consecutive grand final appearances.
They faced similar criticism on social media after the footage emerged of players and fans both joining in on the ‘We hate Parra’ chant.
