New high-quality video shows amazing details of Titanic wreck

A hundred and ten years after it sank in the Atlantic on its maiden voyage, the Titanic still captures public imagination.

The latest news about the doomed passenger liner is that a new high-quality video has shown more details of the wreck lying at the bottom of the ocean.

The highest quality footage captured by an expedition team is the only 8K video of the underwater wreck of the iconic ship.

The Titanic 2022 Expedition team’s footage is helping experts identify new details, like for example, the name of the anchor maker.

“I had never seen the name of the anchor maker, Noah Hingley & Sons Ltd., on the portside anchor,” said expert Rory Golden, in a release by OceanGate Expeditions, the organization behind the video.

Other details now visible shows one of the single-ended boilers that fell to the ocean floor when the Titanic split in two.

The “amazing details” in the video will also help marine archaeologists study further the rate of decay of the Titanic, the organisation said.

Of the 2,224 passengers and crew on board the Titanic, more than 1,500 died when it sank after hitting an iceberg in the North Atlantic.

The wreck lies 12,500 feet (about 3.8 kms) below the surface, crumpled somewhat by the force at which it hit the sea bed.
